Aluminum Flag Poles. Prior to this, they were steel.
Prior to the early 1970’s, rifles were solid wood with metal barrels, trigger guards, butts, had real bolt action, and metal buckles on their straps. Sometimes when they hit the ground they split into pieces. The advent of the synthetic rifle was a huge thing. No more metal to cut your hands or solid wood that could cause a serious injury.
