In 1933, American Legion Post #3 of Great Falls Montana founded a senior drum corps that ran until 1951.
On October 11, 1952, they created a junior drum corps: The “American Legion Junior Drum & Bugle Corps, Post #3”.
In 1968 they were re-named the “Golden Skyliners”.

American Legion Post #3 drum corps won the parade “last year”, which would be 1950.
This senior corps was managed by Del Thurber.
You can see these colors in the 1968 Oregon parade photo and in the 1973 inaugural parade photos.
They are the colors the Golden Skyliners would wear for the next 30-years.
Late 1950’s AL Post #3 Jr. D&BC
In 1954 AL Post #3 Jr D&BC received their first uniforms as noted in the news article above.
You can see these colors in the 1968 Oregon parade photo and in the 1973 inaugural parade photos.
In 1960 and 1961 Legion Post #3 did not field a corps.
